Electricity suppliers
Which electricity supplier is the right one for you?
With the choices available to consumers, knowing which electricity supplier is the best choice for your home can be confusing. What does each supplier offer, and how do the various electricity companies differ?
Most Australians pay their power bill every month or quarter without considering the fact that there might be more economical packages or cheaper electricity suppliers available. In fact, there could be dozens of better options out there for you.
When the Australian power industry was deregulated in the 1990s, the Council of Australian Governments gave one primary justification for the change: to give customers the choice as to which electricity supplier or retailer they deal with.
Since then, the market has grown, with many new consumer options now available. Some advertise heavily, others you may never have heard of. Several promote themselves as ‘green’ energy suppliers, others offer cheaper prices. So how do you know which company to choose?
The most important thing to remember when comparing electricity suppliers is that the power itself, no matter who your supplier may be, is the same. The electricity into your home or business is identical, whether you choose company a) or company b).
Most electricity suppliers offer many different deals, taking into account levels of usage, the area in which you live, and your preferred percentage of green energy. But when did you last take the time to explore all the available options to you?
If you haven’t investigated your options, then chances are your current supplier is charging you at their highest rates. Without comparing the other options, you simply don’t know how much better off you could be.
Don’t pay a cent more than you need to. Simply by changing your electricity supplier, or the package you’re on, you could end up with hundreds of extra dollars in your pocket every year.
So what are you waiting for?
