How to Switch your Gas and Electricity Plan

Step 1

- What are you looking to money save on?

Select the type of energy you want to save on. The dropdown box will give you the option to select Electricity, Gas, or Both (Both refers to electricity and gas – also known as Dual Fuel).

- What is your postcode?

Enter the business’ current the 4-digit postcode.

- Do you consume more than 160 MWhs per annum?

Energy rates differ between a SME (Small to Medium Enterprise) and a Commercial enterprise. In terms of electricity, the difference between the size of a business is determined by whether the business consumes under or over 160MWhs per annum. Where the business energy consumption is below 160MWhs, the business is classified as a SME whilst consumption that exceeds this bracket is classified as a Commercial enterprise.

If your business is classified as SME, you may continue with the price comparison and switch online. If your business is classified as Commercial, pricing options require negotiation type agreements with the energy retailer.

For Commercial business, click the Yes button and enter your details in the dropdown box. A GoSwitch price analyst will contact you by phone to explain the negotiation process and help identify a range of energy rates for your business.

- Would you like to switch over the phone?

If you have any questions or would simply prefer one of our price analysts conduct the price comparison and switch for you, simply click the YES button then click the Click Here to GO button.

Enter your contact details on the dropdown page then click the Save button and one of our price analysts will contact you by phone to provide you with information and arrange the switch in minutes.

Our contact centre is open between 9am and 5pm, Monday to Friday. All emails received outside business hours will be addressed the following Business Day.

You are ready to continue to Step 2 of the 4-step process.

Electricity Search Only

- Do you know what kind of electricity meter you have?*

If you have your bill with you please indicate the kind of electricity meter you have – an All Day meter or an Off Peak meter. The easiest way to find out what type of meter you have is to look at the back of your bill and check whether you are being charged an ‘Off Peak’ rate. Off peak rates can only be applied when the premises has an Off Peak meter.

Note the Peak Only meter option has been pre-selected for your convenience as most businesses have Peak Only meters installed.

- Who is your current retailer?*

Please select the company name of your current energy retailer.

Note the default energy retailer for your area has been pre-selected for you so if unsure, you may simply skip this question.

- What plan are you on? *

Please select the plan name to which your business currently subscribes (the bill will tell you). If the bill does not have a plan name as such, this would most likely mean the business is on the default rate – usually the most expensive rates in your area.

If you are on the default rate, are unsure of the plan name or do not have your bill with you, you may skip this question as the “regulated tariff” or “standing offer” has been pre-selected for you.

- How often do you receive your bills? *

Please indicate how often you receive an electricity bill per annum.

If you have visited the site with your bill, you may identify your bill frequency by looking at the billing period.
