How to Switch to the Cheapest Gas and Electricity Plan
Step 1
- What are you looking to money save on?
Select the type of energy you want to save on. The dropdown box will give you the option to select Electricity, Gas, or Both (Both refers to electricity and gas – also known as Dual Fuel).
- Moving home?
Are you moving home and looking to connect to the cheapest plan in your area from day one? If so, click the YES button, then click the Click Here to GO button. You will be redirected to the Moving Home page.
Enter your contact details then click the Send button and one of our friendly price analysts will contact you by phone to provide you with the information you require and arrange your new connection in minutes.

The relevance of the following sub-headings depends on the energy type selected in Step 1 (see ‘Question1’ above).

- Do you know what kind of electricity meter you have?
If you have your bill with you please indicate the kind of electricity
meter you have – an All Day meter or an Off Peak meter. The easiest
way to find out what type of meter you have is to look at the back of
your bill and check whether you are being charged an ‘Off Peak’ rate.
Off peak rates can only be applied when the premises has an Off Peak
meter.
Note the Peak Only meter option has been pre-selected for your
convenience as over 80% of households have Peak Only meters installed.
- Who is your current retailer?*

Note the default energy retailer for your area has been pre-selected for you so if unsure, you may simply skip this question.
- What plan are you on? *
Please select the plan name to which you currently subscribe (your bill
will tell you). If your bill does not have a plan name as such, this
would most likely mean you are on the default rate – usually the most
expensive rates in your area.
If you are on the default rate, are unsure of the plan name or do not
have your bill with you, you may skip this question as the “regulated
tariff” or “standing offer” has been pre-selected for you.

The term 'Dual Fuel' refers to having the same energy retailer for both electricity and gas. This does not necessarily mean you will receive one bill for both your electricity and gas as meter readings may occur at different frequencies.
Note, where a question only has one box for an answer, the answer will be applied to both your electricity and gas accounts.

Step 3
All known energy plans in your area have now been compared based on the information provided in steps 1 and 2 and have been ranked from cheapest to dearest, based solely on price, with the cheapest plan in being number1 on the list.
This page also includes the following information regarding each plan:
- Retailer Name: The name of the retailer offering the plan.
- Plan Name: The name identifying the plan.
- Description: High-level description of what we believe are the more important terms associated with the plan.
- Estimated Customer Annual Bill in $: Our dollar estimate of your annual energy bill (based on the data entered in Step2) should you switch to this plan (on the assumption your consumption remains the same).
- Estimated Annual Savings in $: Our dollar estimate of what you can save in a year by switching to this plan from your existing plan.
- Percentage Saved: Indicates estimated savings to be had by switching to this plan in percentage points.
You can now switch to the plan of your choice by simply clicking the GoSwitch button beside the plan.
All plans that have an Enquire button requires you contact the retailer directly to switch.
Step 4
Last Step! To complete your application please enter your details as required. We will forward your application to your chosen retailer who will finalise the transfer so that you can start saving as soon as possible.
Congratulations! Your request to switch to cheaper energy has been lodged
Your request for cheaper energy has been delivered to the retailer of your choice. You do not need to do anything else.
If you are switching an electricity or gas account at an existing home, the energy retailer will contact you within 2 business days either by phone or email to welcome you, answer any questions that you may have and proceed with the switch subject to your approval. The switch will occur at your next meter reading.
If you are moving home the energy retailer will contact you within 1 business day to welcome you, answer any questions that you may have and establish the new connection subject to your approval. The energy retailer will require at least 2 business days to establish a new connection.
